It’s that time of year again – The 2025 Rucksack Club Charity Calendar is now available for your purchase and enjoyment. As in the last three years, the design, production and printing of the calendar have all been funded by the Club and its members, so that EVERY SINGLE PENNY raised from sales will go to Climbers Against Cancer (Charity no. 115818) to fund cancer research and support for those living with and beyond this disease. Over the last three years the Club has raised around £15,000 for Climbers Against Cancer, and I thought it was worth highlighting some of the projects you have all helped to fund with your generosity:
- Nepal project, training doctors to use existing radiotherapy equipment to treat children – cancer survival rates for kids in Nepal are 20% (v 80% in UK). Just think what a difference we can make!
- Funding and awareness for ‘the Big Four’ (Breast/Prostate/Bowel/Skin cancer) in UK – raising money AND helping our climbing community to stay safe / get checked / look after themselves!
- Climbing Beyond Cancer – using our wonderful activity as a part of a recovery regime for cancer patients in Grenoble , Calgary and Inverness
This year’s calendar is another picture-packed production, featuring more that 50 photos of Club members engaged in the wide range of activities that makes the Rucksack Club such a diverse and unique Club. From Expedition Alpinism to Sea Cliff climbing; Ski Mountaineering to Bouldering; Fell Running to Ice Climbing and more. There’s even something for the two-wheeled brigade, potholers and yoga aficionados. We really do ‘Get Out There!’ Each month features four photos taken from action in the same month the previous year, illustrating the packed program of activities we enjoy; and locations span four continents and all corners of the British Isles.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed photos this year – the quality of the pictures has been outstanding (we could easily have filled a couple of calendars!) Apologies if your shot didn’t make the cut and please get snapping ready for next year!
The Calendar also features plenty of space for your important dates and information AND details of the Rucksack Club’s enviable meets schedule, so you’ll be sure not to miss out on an opportunity to ‘Get Out There!’

You can also pick one up in person for a tenner (cash or donation via JustGiving) from one of the many CAC Walls (if your local wall doesn’t stock it, get them to contact hello@climbersagainstcancer.org and we’ll sort that out!) or at the Rucksack Club Dinner or one of the Indoor Meets.

Please do support this great cause and celebrate the wonderful active community we have in The Rucksack Club. If every Club member bought a calendar we’d be able to train another half dozen Paediatric Oncologists in Nepal or enable dozens of young cancer patients to experience the life-enhancing physical and mental health benefits of discovering climbing.
