The Rucksack Club Completions List aims to record the success of Club members in a variety of mountain activities – currently Alpine mountaineering, hill walking and hill running. I was bequeathed the list by the late Gordon Adshead, who made valiant efforts to record the significant achievements of members, particularly in documenting completions of hill lists such as the Munros. I have taken his list and added a few new categories, mostly hill running, as well as separating the completion records for each list into separate spreadsheet pages.
Unfortunately the lists are far from complete, partly because they were begun quite recently in the history of the Club, partly because they have concentrated on just a proportion of Club activities and partly because not all events, even in recent years, were recorded. I therefore appeal to anyone who knows of significant achievements that are not included to let me know, so that I can add them. Clearly it would take a large amount of research to extend the records into the early years of the Club; that is an open opportunity. But for more recent years please just tell me what you’ve done!
You might ask: why do this? Whilst there might be some personal pride in declaring one’s achievements, there are benefits to the Club also; the awe-inspiring feats of certain earlier members surely raised the prestige of the Club and thereby attracted others to aspire to membership. Furthermore, they are part of the history of the Club that should recognised. Furthermore again, some major undertakings – such as the Scottish 4000s – were devised by past members, which should be a source of inspiration for future emulation or perhaps themed meets.
I recognise that we will never make the list complete, but the nearer that we approach that, the better the list will act as a concise record of that aspect of Club history.
Having separate lists of different activities, there is scope to add new ones, which I will happily do, subject to their being sufficiently noteworthy. Of course members have a habit doing a huge variety of hill-based activities for which there is no ready category, so I have added an ‘Assorted Feats’ list.
So, if you know of completions or other achievements that aren’t included, please let me know and I will update the list.

Foot in mouth time!
Thanks to those members who have pointed out that the revised completions list that I posted above omitted some previously-listed completions. For some unfathomable reason I used an out-of-date spreadsheet as the basis for my revisions. I am now in the process of rectifying this and will post a new list as soon as I have finished. I notice, though, that the Wainwright list in the 2022 spreadsheet (the current version on the website under ‘Get Out There!’) contains some anomalies, so please let me know if your entry is wrong.
Furthermore I am told that Gordon once had a list of Bob Graham completions, but I do not have it and my list is woefully incomplete. Again, please help if you can.
