Here`s what The Rucksack Club was getting up to last October and November, as captured in the 2025 Charity Calendar in support of @climbersagainstcancerofficial From El Cap to Almscliff, and Nepal to Nevada, we certainly do "Get Out There!"
Here`s a trailer for our November programme:

October can bring wild days but also wonderful days; almost like a natural sauna. The Rucksack Club will probably experience both, as we have the usual full programme:
The Scoop, Strone Ulladale - Episode 14 of Bill and Dom`s Excellent Adventures. A 96hrs smash and grab raid to the island of Harris and back for the most sought-after tick in Hard Rock.

7.30pm on Tuesday 10th December at Summit Up, Oldham and on Zoom.
Adam Bowman is the latest recipient of the Rucksack Club’s Expedition Grant, which helped to fund his participation in this Alaskan Odyssey as part of the Young Alpinists Group. Climbing and skiing in the heart of Denali National park, Adam will talk about his first trip into the big mountains with six other nemebers of the YAG. They climbed a variety of objectives and made the most of the excellent early trip skiing conditions with some steep descents.
This is the first in-person show this season, taking place at Summit Up climbing wall in Oldham. EVERYONE is welcome (even if you aren`t a Rucksack Club member) and it`s ABSOLUTELY FREE. Show starts at 7.30pm, so how about coming along early to grab a few routes (did you know Rucksack Club members get concessionary rates?) or to enjoy a chat over a brew, pizza or ice-cream in the cheerful cafe?
Summit Up Climbing https://summitupclimbing.com/ is at Egerton St, Oldham OL1 3SE. Here’s a Google Maps link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ndUK5QxJVHFgEpj87

Late autumn can give some fabulous days in the hills - given luck with the weather - so the Rucksack Club has full programme to make the best of it:
Our Annual Dinner Meet is always a great opportunity to meet up with old friends in the Club, to meet new members and, of course, to get out onto the hills. This year we`re in Llandudno (8th-10th) with Er Eryri (Snowdonia) on the doorstep.
Then we`re back to Wales for a walking and running meet based at our cosy Beudy Mawr hut in the heart of the hills (15th-17th).
But we`re not neglecting our superb Lake District hut, High Moss, as we will be resurrecting a renown meet from the past, our Famous Haggis Meet (22nd-24th).
Also on 23rd we have a day walk of 10-12 miles from Todmorden exploring the delights of the Calder Valley. (Note that this is the revised date.)
We complete the month with another day walk, this time from Chinley heading for Edale (30th). As it`s a joint meet with the BMC, we have the opportunity to demonstrate to a wider circle the energy and enthusiasm of our Club and the variety of meets that we hold.
Meanwhile, here are a few photos of what Club members were getting up to last November - these are pics that didn`t quite make it into this year`s calendar (just released). - We begin with our annual Working Meet at High Moss, our superb hut in the Duddon Valley. This meet has been consistently popular in recent years as members join in with paint brushes, trowels and screwdrivers to keep the hut in tip-top condition.
- Next we have a day walk of 14 miles across moorland in the clutches of conurbation around Winter Hill and Anglezarke Moor.
- Days later begins our Scottish Island Meet, which this year gives us five or six days on Rum. We`ve had some fabulous meets on Rum in previous years, so we`re hoping to keep up the tradition.
- We end the month back in Lancashire, with a day walk from Rivington around Anglezarke that will take in the Lead Mines Clough Bomber Memorial.
